CONTROVERSIAL VOTE FOR NFF IN FIFA CASE

The NFF is among FIFA’s 211 member associations set to vote on a controversial proposal that could reshape the commercial future of the FIFA World Cup.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino wants to create a new commercial company, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), and sell minority stakes to private investors while FIFA retains control of football governance and competitions.

If the proposal is approved, Nigeria could receive up to $40 million in additional FIFA development funding. If it fails, the extra funding will not be available.

The plan has already sparked strong opposition from UEFA, with critics arguing it opens the door to private investment in football’s biggest tournament, while FIFA insists it is a move to generate billions more for the global development of the game.
